This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.
• Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes, which includes account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, fixed assets management, financial statement preparation, and analysis of account variances.
• Oversee and facilitate daily accounting operations, covering accounts payable, follow-up on accounts receivable, processing expense reimbursements, managing cash and credit card transactions, and handling specific customer invoicing.
• Ensure the accuracy of accounting records and closing schedules, while supporting the correct classification, recording, and documentation of transactions in line with GAAP standards.
• Collaborate on regular tax filings, payments, and compliance activities with Avalara and the company’s external CPA firm.
• Provide assistance during interim and annual financial statement audits, valuation requests, and other mandatory external reporting obligations.
• Aid in customer and commercial operations, such as service level reporting, pricing inquiries, and administration of insurance certificates.
• Contribute to the enhancement of internal controls, optimization of accounting processes, and preservation of data integrity throughout the company’s financial systems.
• Comprehend and adhere to all company Privacy and Security protocols.
• Assist with accounting operations and financial reporting processes while reporting directly to the Controller.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required.
• A minimum of two years of accounting experience, ideally with substantial exposure to the monthly closing process.
• In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and the preparation of financial statements.
• Capability to review financial outcomes, probe discrepancies, and pinpoint unusual or incomplete transactions.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities while adhering to established deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a willingness to learn and navigate various financial systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external service providers.
• A proactive, responsible, and process-oriented work ethic.
• Familiarity with QuickBooks Online, Maxio, Tallie, BILL, Salesforce, or Avalara is advantageous.
• Experience in a SaaS, technology, healthcare, or private equity-backed environment is a plus.
• A CPA license or progress towards CPA certification is preferred, though not mandatory.
• Must possess high-speed Internet with a minimum speed of 25mbs download and 5mbs upload; satellite Internet is not suitable for this position.
