Revenue Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in revenue recognition processes in compliance with ASC 606 and Skillsoft's accounting standards.

• Analyze customer contracts, sales orders, amendments, and various agreements to pinpoint essential revenue accounting issues.

• Develop and sustain revenue schedules for SaaS subscriptions, professional services, and additional revenue sources.

• Aid in monthly revenue roll-forwards and examine discrepancies between subledger, billing, and general ledger activities.

• Oversee and administer royalty and reseller partner reports and payments in alignment with contractual obligations.

• Calculate royalty revenue, minimum fees, and other accounting amounts relevant to partners, as necessary.

• Supervise royalty and reseller reporting requirements and engage with internal and external partners for any missing or incomplete data.

• Ensure precise documentation that supports revenue recognition and royalty accounting conclusions.

• Collaborate with Sales Operations, Order Management, Legal, Accounts Receivable, Partner Management, and other teams to address contract and accounting discrepancies.

• Assist with both external and internal audit requests by providing necessary schedules and documentation.

• Support SOX controls associated with revenue and royalty accounting, ensuring that assigned controls are completed accurately and on time.

• Keep data and reporting accurate within revenue, billing, and ERP systems.

• Identify opportunities for enhancing revenue and royalty accounting processes, reporting, and controls.

• Contribute to special projects and system initiatives related to revenue recognition, royalty accounting, and process automation.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2-4 years of accounting experience, which may include relevant internships or co-op experience, along with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and accounting principles.

• Proficient in Excel, including the use of PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and standard financial formulas.

• Capability to review and interpret contracts, pricing terms, and financial data.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.

• Highly organized, capable of managing multiple priorities, and meeting month-end deadlines.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Competent in collaborating with cross-functional teams and conveying accounting requirements to non-accounting personnel.

• Comfortable analyzing large data sets and recognizing trends, variances, and discrepancies.

• Quick learner of new accounting systems, processes, and technologies.

• Proven commitment to accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Preferred: experience with ASC 606 or revenue recognition principles.

• Preferred: background in a SaaS, software, subscription, or technology company.

• Preferred: experience in royalty accounting, reseller accounting, licensing agreements, or partner reporting.

• Preferred: familiarity with NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or another ERP system.

• Preferred: experience with revenue recognition or billing systems.

• Preferred: knowledge of deferred revenue and revenue reconciliation processes.

• Preferred: experience in supporting SOX controls or external audits.
