Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Assist in all facets of the General Ledger and prepare and present financial statements.

• Examine and reconcile intricate financial data to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and accounting practices.

• Assess accounting, internal control, and departmental processes to enhance compliance, efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.

• Detect trends or irregularities in accounting system transactions and assess their importance.

• Resolve issues within designated authority and escalate other matters to higher management.

• Compile reports of findings and serve as an internal advisor for unusual or complex accounting challenges.

• Support compliance efforts, including tax submissions and cost report preparation.

• Strategize and execute timely, efficient, and precise month-end General Ledger closing activities.

• Oversee, coordinate, and record journal entries while ensuring proper segregation of duties and approvals.

• Generate monthly balance sheet reconciliations for designated facilities.

• Create reports, worksheets, analyses, documentation, and supporting schedules for auditors, tax returns, and regulatory bodies.

• Act as the primary contact and provide accounting assistance to executive directors and department heads.

• Monitor and evaluate departmental tasks to foster more efficient procedures and resource utilization.

• Conduct general payroll tasks as required.

• Manage general fixed assets as necessary.

• Advocate for Transforming Age's Mission, Vision, Values, Culture of Excellence, and strategic objectives.

• Execute additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A BS/BA in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting.

• Proficient understanding of GAAP and relevant regulations.

• Experience in multi-state tax accounting.

• Strong knowledge of accounting and financial operations, including audit preparation, budgeting, and reporting.

• At least 3 years of experience as a public accountant is highly preferred.

• CPA certification is strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with the healthcare sector is preferred.

• Experience with Workday is a plus.
