This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Reconcile monthly P&I and escrow remittance reports while verifying amounts owed between Newfi and investors.
• Prepare reporting for investor remittances, coordinate wire requests, and document relevant loan-level journal entries.
• Investigate discrepancies in investor remittances and follow up on any pending reimbursements.
• Examine servicing invoices and escrow disbursements to identify discrepancies and record associated receivables.
• Act as the primary Accounting liaison among investors, servicers, and Newfi.
• Record investor payments, invoices, repurchase activities, and related cash entries in Loan Vision.
• Oversee accounting for Early Payment Payoff (EPP) loans, which includes reclassifications, accruals, holdbacks, and tracking.
• Assist with FHA/VA mortgage insurance premium payments, buydown funding, and related journal entries.
• Participate in warehouse meetings and support activities related to funding and cash accounting.
• Conduct reconciliations for bank, warehouse, investor LHFS, and investor warehouse accounts.
• Prepare accruals for EPP and escrow.
• Reconcile loan funding activities across loan systems, warehouse facilities, and general ledger accounts.
• Reconcile designated Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Investor Payables, and purchase clearing accounts.
• Investigate and resolve reconciling items, contributing to an efficient month-end close.
• Develop and maintain accounting procedures for investor remittance, EPP, and related processes.
• Ensure accurate supporting documentation is maintained for reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements that enhance controls, increase accuracy, and support efficient closing timelines.
• Collaborate with the Controller and cross-functional teams on accounting initiatives and special projects.
• A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, ideally in mortgage banking, servicing, wholesale, correspondent lending, or financial services.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• A strong grasp of general ledger accounting, journal entries, accruals, cash activities, and balance-sheet reconciliations.
• Experience in mortgage-specific accounting, including investor reporting, servicing, warehouse activities, loan funding, or loan-level accounting.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Advanced Excel proficiency and experience handling financial and loan-level data.
• Capability to manage multiple deadlines while effectively communicating with both internal and external partners.
• Familiarity with Loan Vision or another mortgage accounting platform is preferred.
• Experience in investor remittance reporting, warehouse reconciliations, EPP accounting, and servicing activities is preferred.
• Knowledge of Non-QM, DSCR, Agency, FHA/VA, Jumbo, HELOC, or Second Lien products is preferred.
• A CPA or an advanced degree in accounting/finance is a plus.
• Familiarity with AI tools or AI-enabled accounting technologies to enhance accounting workflows, reporting, reconciliations, data analysis, or process efficiency is desired.
