This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee and manage lease accounting functions in compliance with ASC 842, encompassing both operating and finance leases.
• Prepare and evaluate lease-related journal entries, amortization schedules, account reconciliations, and necessary supporting documentation.
• Assess lease agreements and accompanying documentation to ensure precise accounting treatment, classification, and reporting.
• Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations for right-of-use assets, lease liabilities, and associated accounts.
• Manage and reconcile intercompany balances and transactions across various Neogen entities.
• Collaborate with domestic and international finance teams to explore and resolve intercompany discrepancies.
• Prepare and record intercompany journal entries, allocations, settlements, and related support schedules.
• Create, review, and maintain bank reconciliations for multiple accounts and entities.
• Review and reconcile designated balance sheet accounts, including cash, lease, and intercompany accounts.
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, which include journal entries, account analyses, flux/variance explanations, and reporting schedules.
• Prepare supporting schedules and audit workpapers for both internal and external audit requests.
• Work in partnership with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Procurement, FP&A, Tax, Operations, Treasury, and other Accounting teams.
• Aid in the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of lease accounting software, ERP systems, reporting tools, and process improvements.
• Develop, maintain, and revise accounting policies, procedures, and desk manuals.
• Assist with technical accounting research and the interpretation of accounting guidelines.
• Support additional accounting and finance responsibilities, special projects, and initiatives for continuous improvement.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be taken into account.
• Experience in accounting, finance, or related fields with a focus on general ledger activity, reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.
• Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and lease accounting principles, particularly ASC 842.
• Ability to prepare, review, and analyze journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation with precision and thoroughness.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the capacity to investigate discrepancies, pinpoint root causes, and propose timely solutions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, data validation, lookups, and analysis of large data sets.
• Capability to work with ERP systems, lease accounting tools, and financial reporting systems.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to evolving business needs.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to collaborate across teams, functions, and locations.
• Proven ability to handle sensitive financial information with professionalism and sound judgment.
• Commitment to accuracy, process discipline, continuous improvement, and alignment with Neogen's standards for integrity and accountability.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• CPA, CPA eligibility, or progress towards a professional accounting certification.
• Experience with lease accounting software and/or the implementation or ongoing administration of ASC 842.
• Background in intercompany accounting within a multi-entity or global organization.
• Experience in manufacturing, life sciences, food safety, animal safety, or other regulated business environments.
• Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
• Experience in preparing audit schedules and collaborating with internal or external auditors.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with reporting, automation, or data analytics tools.
• Ability to clearly document processes and identify opportunities for improving efficiency, controls, and scalability.
