
Senior Accountant – Captive Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the daily accounting and financial operations of a portfolio of captive insurance entities.
• Serve as the primary contact for senior management and clients.
• Conduct general ledger upkeep, reconciliations, and tailored financial and management reporting.
• Prepare and assess monthly and quarterly financial statement packages in accordance with GAAP, SAP, and modified GAAP.
• Track cash movements, investment activities, and intercompany transactions.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, and on-demand financial analyses.
• Prepare and submit premium tax returns, NAIC Blank Forms, and regulatory filings specific to domiciles.
• Act as the main accounting liaison for regulatory issues across both onshore and offshore domiciles.
• Lead audit preparation and comprehensive review processes.
• Collaborate with auditors, actuaries, tax advisors, regulators, investment managers, and bankers.
• Provide guidance on accounting trends, investment regulations, and compliance factors.
• Participate in meetings with clients, shareholders, and the Board of Directors.
• Present financial outcomes and clarify complex accounting topics to non-technical audiences.
• Enhance client retention through consistent service delivery and superior financial reporting.
• Utilize Acumatica, MAS 500, BizNet, Velixo, and Wings.
• Refine accounting processes, controls, efficiencies, documentation, and systems consistency.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
• At least 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in captive insurance, insurance, or financial services.
• In-depth understanding of GAAP and insurance accounting principles.
• Proven capability to manage multiple clients and meet deadlines with little supervision.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and client service skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and enterprise accounting systems.
• CPA designation is preferred.
• Experience with captive insurance companies and various regulatory domiciles is preferred.
