This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee accounting information systems and software for client organizations.
• Guide and support Staff Accountants on technical accounting matters.
• Cultivate and manage client relationships.
• Progress towards leading a small team of Staff Accountants.
• Take responsibility for the gross margin of the pod, ensuring visibility into engagement profitability and accountability for team utilization.
• Handle complex bookkeeping and vController engagements.
• Conduct daily accounting operations, including accounts receivable and payable.
• Input data into accounting systems while ensuring the integrity of information and documentation.
• Review and process documentation submitted by clients, such as bills and invoices.
• Actively reach out to clients for additional information as needed.
• Communicate with clients through email and video conferencing.
• Prepare financial reports and budgets.
• Organize clients' accounting records, financial statements, and reports.
• Work with the Manager of Accounting Services to identify and implement process improvements.
• Execute assigned responsibilities while ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Recognize opportunities for offering additional services.
• Develop and manage accounting and financial systems using Zenbooks best practices and SOPs.
• Provide expert knowledge and understand the needs of clients.
• Ensure timely delivery of client solutions.
• Maintain relationships with internal accountants and consultants.
• Oversee the implementation of payroll, accounting, payment software, and associated processes in client organizations.
• Conduct bank and credit card reconciliations and follow up on outstanding documentation.
• Prepare GST/HST/PST sales tax returns.
• Review financial statements and prepare client files for year-end tax accountants.
• 2-3 years of experience in a client-facing role within public accounting.
• Knowledge of cloud accounting software such as Xero and/or QBO is essential.
• Must successfully pass a criminal background check and/or education and employment verification.
• Remote work capability is required.
• Access to high-speed internet is necessary.
• Availability during core business hours is expected.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Customer service-oriented with outstanding communication skills.
• Ability to adapt and solve problems effectively.
• Proficient in time management and multitasking.
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to take initiative in team environments.
