Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Directly report to the Assistant Controller.

• Prepare consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.

• Manage key aspects of monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.

• Ensure the accuracy of the general ledger and compliance of transactions with GAAP and company accounting policies.

• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and address discrepancies.

• Mentor and oversee the Staff Accountant.

• Assist in the development of accounting policies and procedures.

• Utilize modern finance tools and AI-driven solutions to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reporting insights.

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and automate accounting workflows.

• Support external audits by preparing necessary schedules and documentation.

• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the internal control environment.

• Collaborate with operations, product, tech, and data teams on ad hoc projects and new business initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline is required.

• A minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within the insurance sector.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting, with a focus on premium recognition, claims, and reserves.

• Familiarity with accounting software is essential.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Experience with Workday is an advantage.

• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.

• High attention to detail and accuracy.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Experience using AI tools to enhance or automate financial processes.

• Background in implementing or improving finance systems or processes.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.

• Capability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States or Canada without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
