Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes related to cash and balance sheet accounts.

• Prepare and uphold balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and resolving any outstanding items.

• Lead and facilitate accounting and cash operations projects aimed at process enhancements, system upgrades, implementations, integrations, automation, policy revisions, and organizational change management.

• Create project plans, oversee timelines, engage stakeholders, and ensure accountability for project deliverables.

• Reconcile high-volume cash transactions, which include Accounts Payable disbursements, premium billing and cash receipts, claims payments, and associated clearing accounts.

• Keep track of aged reconciling items and notify management of any issues.

• Collaborate with AP, Billing, Claims, Treasury, and IT teams to investigate discrepancies and refine cash-related processes.

• Assist with process improvement initiatives focused on automation, standardization, and enhanced reporting dashboards.

• Ensure adherence to internal controls, Model Audit Rule requirements, and audit readiness standards.

• Prepare reconciliation documentation and assist with internal and external audit inquiries.

• Develop and maintain reports and dashboards that display reconciliation status, exceptions, and cash metrics.

• Report directly to the Associate Director of General Accounting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of progressive experience in accounting, reconciliation, or financial reporting.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

• Proven experience in preparing and reviewing complex balance sheet reconciliations.

• Familiarity with month-end closing processes.

• Experience in supporting process improvement and automation initiatives.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

• Proficient in accounting software systems.

• CPA, CPA candidate, or equivalent professional certification is preferred.

• Preferred experience in cash account reconciliation.

• Experience working with large datasets is preferred.

• Familiarity with BlackLine, Power BI, or similar financial reporting and reconciliation tools is preferred.

• Experience leading process improvement, automation, or system implementation projects is preferred.

• Background in healthcare, insurance, or managed care environments is preferred.

• Knowledge of premium billing, claims payment cycles, treasury operations, or cash management processes is preferred.

• Minimum internet speed of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload for remote work.
