Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +19 more states.

📋 Description

• Transition accounting operations from the outsourced provider to in-house

• Take full responsibility for the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and the monthly closing process

• Record and assess journal entries, accruals, payroll, and revenue reconciliations

• Aim to finalize the books by the fifth business day of each month

• Oversee the general ledger and accounts payable functions

• Manage Brex and investigate any discrepancies

• Ensure proper documentation and maintain internal controls

• Lead the implementation of AI and automation in accounting, ensuring the accuracy of outputs

• Draft and uphold standard operating procedures (SOPs) and accounting policies

• Establish processes and controls to facilitate the scaling of the finance function

• Complete the transition from the outsourced accounting provider by day 120

• Reconcile and document essential balance-sheet accounts, resolving any outstanding items older than 30 days by day 90

• Publish SOPs for priority accounting processes by day 150

⛳️ Requirements

• Direct involvement in the entire closing cycle, covering month-end/year-end close, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations, executed end-to-end

• Experience with GAAP revenue recognition, including recurring and subscription revenue

• Familiarity with integrating AI and automation tools into accounting workflows

• Proficient in advanced Excel

• Experience with systems automation is a plus

• Knowledge of QuickBooks or similar software is a plus

• Expertise in data modeling, SQL, Databricks, or similar technologies is a plus

• Capability to balance efficiency and precision

• Ability to verify and fact-check outputs generated by AI in accounting

• Skill in identifying obstacles early and suggesting solutions

• Competence in documenting processes and developing scalable accounting controls

• Authorized to work for any employer in the United States without restrictions
