Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of designated journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and associated schedules for month-end closing.

• Investigate and resolve reconciling items, ensuring that account balances are well-documented.

• Generate close-related reports and analyses that clarify account activities, trends, fluctuations, and discrepancies.

• Develop internal reporting packages, monthly results analyses, regulatory submissions, and supporting schedules.

• Conduct trend and fluctuation analyses utilizing business judgment, materiality considerations, and account-specific knowledge.

• Examine discrepancies and complex accounting matters, prepare corrective entries, and suggest enhancements.

• Provide auditors with necessary schedules, supporting documentation, and responses to audit inquiries.

• Maintain reconciliations, desk-level procedures, and process documentation.

• Collaborate with internal departments and IT to address system interface and data integrity challenges.

• Assist in root-cause analysis and execute sustainable process improvements.

• Keep management updated on potential issues, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.

• Contribute to strategic projects, new product initiatives, system implementations, and process modifications.

• Work together with accounting team members and business partners to resolve account-related issues and ensure accurate financial reporting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or a High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant experience in place of a degree.

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in an accounting specialty such as tax, accounting, or financial analytics.

• Proficient in US GAAP.

• Experience in applying accounting principles to journal entries, reconciliations, fluctuation analyses, accruals, and financial reporting outputs.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Ability to independently identify, analyze, and resolve complex accounting challenges.

• Capacity to work effectively amidst ambiguity and quickly grasp new concepts.

• Ability to convert process and system modifications into desk-level procedures and ensure consistent execution.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Experience with regulatory reporting is preferred.

• Certification as a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, or another relevant credential is preferred.

• ERP experience is preferred.
