Staff Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Oversee cash management and generate monthly journal entries along with account reconciliations.

• Support annual audits and participate in specific financial-management initiatives.

• Review online banking transactions, maintain daily cash receipts logs, and oversee positive pay processes.

• Prepare bank reconciliations, assigned general-ledger journal entries, and account reconciliations along with roll-forwards.

• Evaluate capital expenditure requests, secure necessary approvals, and keep expenditure logs updated.

• Manage the fixed-asset system and document depreciation.

• Prepare fixed-asset reconciliations and file annual Tangible Personal Property tax returns.

• Handle prepaid accounting and oversee the prepaid module.

• Monitor postage accounts and execute related tasks.

• Prepare journal entries for accrual and reclassification.

• Account for the internal pharmacy, which includes data collection, inventory management, accruals, and variance analysis.

• Record monthly entries for debt, bond, and intangible assets.

• Compile monthly data on legal and consulting services for analytical purposes.

• Prepare supplemental financial schedules on a monthly basis.

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts.

• Complete quarterly and annual government surveys.

• Represent the organization professionally while adhering to relevant regulations, policies, and practices concerning confidentiality, safety, security, and quality improvement.

• Engage in professional development, research, educational initiatives, and knowledge sharing.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a comparable mix of education and experience.

• Preferred 1 year of accounting experience; full-time internships may be taken into account.

• Up to 1 year of practical experience with general ledger and associated subsystems.

• Proficiency in 10-key data entry by touch.

• Practical experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

• Computer skills relevant to the role.

• Excellent customer service, along with strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.

• Strong critical thinking and organizational capabilities.

• Knowledge and skill in accounting and financial analysis.

• Familiarity with regulatory standards relevant to the role.

• Successfully meet competency requirements for this position.
