This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist the Controller by executing and evaluating intricate accounting functions within a government contracting framework.
• Execute and oversee month-end closing procedures.
• Prepare and assess journal entries, accruals, prepaids, recurring entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Analyze general ledger activities, investigate discrepancies, and support monthly financial reporting.
• Ensure the maintenance of comprehensive, audit-ready accounting documentation.
• Review and post authorized program-related vendor invoices in Unanet; monitor AP activities, aging, payment batches, vendor reconciliations, and exceptions.
• Assess AR aging, customer invoice activities, billing discrepancies, overdue or disputed invoices, and AR/cash reconciliations.
• Evaluate payroll preparations, registers, payroll-to-general-ledger reconciliations, timesheet modifications, corrections, and discrepancies.
• Create schedules and transaction-level documentation for DCAA, financial, and other audits.
• Aid in the Incurred Cost Submission and indirect-rate schedules.
• Collaborate with Finance team members, review accounting tasks, act as a Unanet accounting resource, and uphold procedures.
• Identify opportunities for process enhancements and resolve routine or moderately complex issues, escalating significant exceptions to the Controller.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Over 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in federal government contracting accounting.
• Required strong hands-on experience with Unanet ERP.
• Familiarity with month-end closing and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Extensive experience in general ledger, AP, AR, payroll accounting, and account analysis.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and regulations pertaining to government contracting accounting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to independently research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Proficient Excel skills.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities and recurring deadlines with minimal supervision in a remote setting.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer.
