This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Manage a portfolio of mid-market and small group accounts throughout Texas.
• Act as the primary relationship manager for designated employer groups and brokers.
• Oversee onboarding processes, renewals, plan modifications, escalated service challenges, and retention strategies.
• Collaborate with brokers on proposals for new business, renewal discussions, and recommendations for plan designs.
• Ensure adherence to ACA, ERISA, COBRA, and relevant Texas state insurance regulations.
• Monitor and report on renewal statuses, retention rates, and at-risk accounts using internal tools such as Google Suite.
• Serve as a senior advisor for Texas Account Executives regarding plan design, broker negotiation strategies, and complex escalations.
• Support the Director in onboarding and training new Account Executives through shadowing, role-playing, and informal coaching.
• Standardize and document best practices, templates, and workflows.
• Arrange backup coverage for colleagues during absences, leave, and peak renewal periods.
• Report systemic issues, training deficiencies, and process failures to the Director.
• Represent the Account Executive team's viewpoint in assigned cross-functional projects.
• Work with Underwriting, Compliance, and Operations to address complex account challenges.
• Collaborate with the Director on initiatives for process enhancements and team training resources.
• Function as an individual contributor without formal supervisory or direct-report responsibilities.
• Over 5 years of experience as an Account Executive or Account Manager in group health insurance, ideally with a carrier, broker, or TPA.
• Proven experience managing mid-market and small group accounts within the Texas market.
• Familiarity with ACA, ERISA, COBRA, and Texas Insurance Code regulations relevant to group health plans.
• Strong history of renewal retention and management of broker relationships.
• Ability to mentor or informally coach less experienced team members without formal management authority.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, especially in broker- and client-facing situations.
• Proficient in Google Suite and account management software.
• Possession of a State Health, Life, and Variable Annuity license.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience in the industry will be considered.
• Must be a resident of Texas.
• Available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; extended hours and weekend work may occasionally be necessary.
• Travel may be required.
