Security Software Engineer, Vulnerability Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Assist in the daily operations of the vulnerability management hub and two AI scanning engines.

• Oversee scan fleets and manage worker queues.

• Investigate issues with stalled or unsuccessful scans and implement solutions.

• Develop and sustain backend services using Python/FastAPI, frontend applications with React/TypeScript, and Postgres data models.

• Assess platform feedback from security engineers and repository maintainers.

• Replicate bugs, perform SQL data reconciliations, and provide closure to users.

• Manage the GitOps deployment pipeline utilizing Kubernetes/OpenShift, ArgoCD, and Vault.

• Release updates to staging and production environments.

• Rotate secrets and confirm successful rollouts.

• Enhance scan coverage and data integrity across GitLab, GitHub, Gerrit, and Perforce.

• Refine ownership attribution, finding lifecycle, and deduplication processes.

• Collaborate with senior engineers on LLM agent frameworks for scanning and verification.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.

• 1–3 years of experience in software engineering (internships included).

• Strong foundational knowledge of Python.

• Familiarity with SQL and relational databases.

• Comfortable working in a Linux/Git environment.

• Eagerness to troubleshoot across unfamiliar systems.

• Interest in security and a commitment to becoming a security expert.

• Strong sense of ownership.

• Ability to communicate effectively.

• Frontend development experience with React and TypeScript.

• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, ArgoCD/GitOps, Redis, Celery/ARQ, or job-queue/worker architectures.

• Practical experience with LLM APIs, agent frameworks, or coding agents.

• Understanding of security fundamentals, including CTF participation, security coursework, bug bounty reports, or Security+/eJPT certifications.

• Contributions to open-source projects or a portfolio showcasing completed side projects.
