Security Infrastructure Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design and develop security measures across cloud platforms, operating systems, Kubernetes, networks, and CI/CD processes.

• Identify and integrate security and privacy features, rectify bugs, and enhance defense-in-depth strategies within the codebase.

• Conduct audits of Tailscale infrastructure to detect technical security vulnerabilities and lead efforts towards their resolution.

• Provide support for engineering decisions through threat modeling, security analysis, and specialized knowledge.

• Allocate 25–50% of your time to software development rather than solely focusing on operational or governance security duties.

• Serve as a subject matter expert during security incidents, concentrating on infrastructure-level containment and remediation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Deep understanding of cloud platform security, especially in securing multi-cloud networks and infrastructure, as well as designing cloud-agnostic systems.

• Knowledge of container security, orchestration security, and authentication/authorization processes.

• Familiarity with the fundamentals of internet/web security, including Web Application Firewalls (WAFs), TLS, PKI, and DNS security.

• Proficient in at least one programming language; Tailscale uses Go.

• Skilled in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.

• Previous experience in a technical role related to safety, such as infrastructure security, security operations, threat modeling and prioritization, or digital forensics and incident response.

• Understanding of operating system internals and their security mechanisms.

• Knowledge of common networking protocols.

• Capable of providing and receiving constructive feedback.

• Able to work independently as well as collaboratively.

• Willingness to adapt to a startup environment.

• A risk-based mindset for developing practical, usable security measures.
