Security Infrastructure Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement security measures across cloud environments, operating systems, Kubernetes, networks, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Recognize and integrate security and privacy enhancements, bug resolutions, and defense-in-depth strategies throughout the codebase.

• Examine Tailscale infrastructure for potential technical security vulnerabilities.

• Propose mitigations and solutions and lead them to completion.

• Assist engineering decisions through threat modeling, security assessments, and specialized knowledge.

• Allocate 25–50% of your time to software development instead of concentrating solely on operational or governance security tasks.

• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert during security incidents, emphasizing infrastructure-level containment and recovery.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in cloud platform security, particularly in securing multi-cloud networks and infrastructure, as well as designing cloud-agnostic systems.

• Knowledgeable in container security, orchestration security, and authentication/authorization processes.

• Familiar with foundational internet/web security concepts, including WAFs, TLS, PKI, and DNS security.

• Skilled in at least one programming language, with Tailscale utilizing Go.

• Experienced with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.

• Previous experience in a safety-focused technical position, such as infrastructure security, security operations, threat modeling and prioritization, or digital forensics and incident management.

• Understanding of operating system internals and security protocols.

• Acquainted with common networking protocols.

• Capable of acting as a Subject Matter Expert during security incidents.

• Competent in providing and receiving constructive feedback.

• Able to work independently as well as collaboratively.

• Adaptable in a fast-paced startup setting.
