Security Engineering Team Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and develop the Security Engineering team.

• Establish priorities, manage the engineering cadence, and create career progression paths.

• Oversee the architecture and roadmap for security platforms while documenting key design decisions.

• Define AWS security architecture, including identity guardrails, logging and monitoring, and posture management.

• Manage the detection-as-code framework along with SOC automation and agent tooling.

• Create and maintain the platform supporting the fleet of security agents, encompassing tooling, integrations, permissions, guardrails, evaluation, logging, and reliability.

• Conduct design and code reviews and establish standards for testing, infrastructure as code, and observability.

• Convert escalation patterns and incident findings into an engineering roadmap in collaboration with the Security Operations Team Lead.

• Tackle complex technical challenges directly, utilizing AI-assisted development.

• Act as a representative of Security Engineering to security leadership, R&D, and IT, advocating for investments based on data.

• Collaborate with the Security Operations Team Lead to synchronize operational needs with engineering deliverables.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years in security engineering, cloud security, or detection engineering, including senior or lead-level experience.

• Proven experience in leading, mentoring, or managing engineering teams.

• Practical experience in developing LLM-based or agent-based workflows and associated tools.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development as an integral part of engineering practices.

• Experience in designing security platforms at scale, including log pipelines, detection frameworks, and cloud security controls.

• Extensive knowledge of AWS security architecture, IAM, organizations and guardrails, and security services.

• Possession of AWS Security Specialty or Solutions Architect Associate certification, or equivalent demonstrated expertise.

• Proficient in Python and infrastructure as code, with a history of delivering production systems.

• Ability to produce clear design documentation and articulate technical trade-offs to leadership.

• Experience with SSPM and SaaS integration security at scale (preferred).

• Familiarity with FedRAMP, SOC 2, or ISO 27001 (preferred).

• AWS Security Specialty, AWS Solutions Architect Professional, CISSP, or similar certification (preferred).
