Security Engineer – Hardware Product Security, R&D

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Estonia.

📋 Description

• Contribute to security-focused design for hardware products, embedded systems, and integrated hardware-software solutions.

• Conduct threat modeling and security risk assessments for devices, components, interfaces, and firmware.

• Establish and implement security measures for hardware and firmware, including secure boot, roots of trust, key protection, device identity, and secure update processes.

• Provide support for secure hardware architecture and component selection from a security standpoint.

• Evaluate attack surfaces, including debug interfaces, physical access, communication interfaces, and firmware update pathways.

• Plan and execute security testing, hardening, and validation of prototypes and product components.

• Collaborate with systems, software, electronics, and mechanical engineers to embed security requirements into product designs.

• Contribute technical content to R&D project outputs, engineering reports, and testing documentation.

• Generate security requirements, threat models, risk assessments, implemented security measures and configurations, security test plans and outcomes, mitigation recommendations, and technical R&D documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Solid foundation in cyber security, embedded systems, electronics, or secure product engineering.

• Hands-on experience transitioning hardware products or intricate prototypes from design to tested implementation.

• Familiarity with embedded architectures, firmware, PCB-level interfaces, and hardware-software integration.

• Experience with secure boot, hardware roots of trust, TPM/secure elements, cryptographic key management, or secure firmware updates.

• Proficiency in utilizing security testing and debugging tools for embedded or hardware systems.

• Background in defense, critical infrastructure, or collaborative R&D projects is advantageous.

• Relevant security or embedded system certifications are beneficial but not required.
