
Section 508 Document Remediation Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assess and rectify Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, web, and multimedia materials to ensure Section 508 compliance.
• Modify document structure, reading sequences, headings, tables, forms, hyperlinks, color contrast, and alternative text.
• Perform both manual and automated accessibility evaluations, including checks with assistive technologies.
• Confirm adherence to relevant Section 508 and WCAG standards.
• Generate accessibility reports, remediation logs, and compliance documentation.
• Offer practical accessibility advice to content, communications, training, and web development teams.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Section 508 accessibility remediation.
• Expertise in remediating PDF and Microsoft 365 documents.
• Familiarity with federal accessibility standards and WCAG Level AA success criteria.
• Experience using accessibility testing tools and assistive technologies.
• Excellent attention to detail, quality assurance, documentation, and client communication abilities.
• Capacity to obtain government clearance.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
• DHS Trusted Tester, IAAP CPACC, IAAP WAS, or similar accessibility certifications are preferred.
• Experience in supporting higher education or federal government programs or contracts is preferred.
• Familiarity with SharePoint Online and accessible multimedia is preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to sit for extended periods at a desk and work on a computer.
• Occasionally may need to lift up to 25 pounds.
