
Secondary Social Studies Substitute Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Assist in the educational program for students enrolled in Connections Academy schools.
• Be accessible online to students, parents, and school staff from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm in the school's time zone.
• Collaborate with parents, students, and colleagues to create and revise personalized learning plans.
• Provide constructive feedback on student assignments and recommend instructional techniques.
• Oversee the completion of assignments and confirm student comprehension.
• Perform all grading duties and produce progress reports.
• Hold parent conferences promptly as required.
• Enhance the instructional program through both synchronous and asynchronous web conferencing sessions.
• Maintain current student records and data.
• Collaborate with counselors and special education professionals to address individual student needs.
• Regularly check email to stay updated on forthcoming assignments and announcements.
• Attend monthly meetings with an assigned Substitute Services supervisor.
• Must be highly qualified and certified to teach Social Studies in Washington.
• Additional state certifications are a benefit.
• Capability to secure certification in other states upon request.
• Ability to obtain further clearances as needed.
• A Bachelor’s degree or higher is mandatory.
• Must maintain a dedicated and distraction-free home office environment.
• Availability is required from Monday to Friday during the designated school hours (generally 8:00 am to 4:00 pm in the school’s time zone).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic environment that demands significant adaptability, effective task prioritization, self-motivation, and creativity.
• Familiarity with IEP/504 plans and their implementation in a virtual context.
• Strong attention to detail, along with exceptional time management and organizational capabilities.
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering student achievement.
• Proficient technology skills (experience with learning management systems, Microsoft Office applications, and Google Apps is preferred).
• Reliable, high-speed internet connection is required.
• A computer equipped with Microsoft OS and Microsoft Office is necessary (PC preferred).
• A customer-focused mindset and a history of being a team player are essential.
• Must not provide care for others during regular school hours while on assignment; alternative care arrangements must be arranged.
• Employment in another job during normal school hours while on assignment is prohibited.
• Completion of mandatory orientation and training programs within the first 30 days of employment and at the start of each academic year is required.
• Two-step authentication must be established to log into all systems if a job offer is extended.
