Secondary Art Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Demonstrate a commitment to equitable practices across all aspects of the job description, which includes utilizing evidence for decision-making, maintaining high expectations for every student, and dedicating efforts to provide personalized support to help all students meet those expectations;

• Manage a homeroom of students when necessary;

• Support the instructional program through asynchronous recorded lessons and synchronous instruction, along with individual communications and interventions;

• Deliver clear, constructive, and consistent feedback on all student work, create progress reports, and conduct parent conferences in a timely manner;

• Regularly communicate with parents, students, and fellow teachers to develop and update Personal Learning Plans and schedules, assess scores, provide feedback on student work, recommend instructional strategies, monitor assignment completion, and guide special projects;

• Acquire a general understanding of the entire program’s curriculum and an in-depth knowledge of the specific grades for which you are responsible;

• Function within the Response to Intervention/Multi-Tiered System of Supports framework, using data and evidence to deliver Tier 1 differentiated instruction to all students while collaborating with a team of teachers to create and implement Tier 2 and 3 interventions;

• Assist students and parents with alternative lessons, assessments, and strategies, and provide additional support for daily assignments and projects to achieve individual learning goals;

• Foster strong relationships with students and families to provide targeted instruction and intervention tailored to individual student needs;

• Collaborate with other staff members within a professional learning community to ensure all students are successfully progressing through the program, that parents have a primary point of contact, and that responsibilities are shared among staff;

• Work with the school’s professional learning community to continually monitor student data to make informed instructional decisions that directly affect student learning;

• Partner with other teachers, team members, and staff learning specialists to create alternate interventions and extensions to students’ programs to ensure all students achieve relatively high levels of success;

• Maintain up-to-date student records and data, including cumulative files, online student and family information, attendance tracking, and logs of all student and parent interactions;

• Collaborate with Advisory Teachers and School Counselor(s) to ensure students and families receive appropriate communications, students are making satisfactory progress, and established goals are being met;

• Work with fellow teachers to coordinate and participate in social activities, required school events (such as graduation), and relevant field trips for students, considering how to integrate these trips into the curriculum;

• Actively engage with students and families during school events and field trips;

• Develop and execute virtual strategies to foster and maintain a “school community”;

• Participate in a Professional Learning Community (PLC);

• Attend mandatory school and district professional development, in addition to pursuing professional growth in relevant curriculum fields;

• Assist in organizing and administering State Testing, as directed;

• Supervise state testing under the guidance of the Campus Test Coordinator, the Field Administrator, and the Test Site Director at designated locations;

• Engage in student recruitment sessions and other marketing initiatives that require teacher representation;

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Must be highly qualified and certified to teach in Texas in the appropriate subject area (valid certification required);

• Must possess or be willing to promptly obtain TxVSN Certification;

• Strong technology skills, particularly with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite;

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;

• Highly organized and punctual;

• Focused on students and families;

• High degree of flexibility;

• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment;

• Track record as a team player;

• Strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with students, parents, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds;

• Ability to travel 15-20% for school-related activities (including state testing, marketing, professional development, and school meetings); may require overnight travel;

• Availability for occasional evening hours, as needed to support some families;

• Capability to work remotely;

• Must be able to utilize a personal electronic device and an email address for two-step authentication.
