This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Deliver direct pricing and design assistance to both internal and external clients for design/build and publicly bid projects.
• Utilize knowledge of structures, materials, and construction methods to support Field Sales and Estimators.
• Create calculations and engineering details based on contract drawings, specifications, and addendums.
• Employ in-house pricing and supplemental design software.
• Generate designs that comply with code requirements and manufacturing constraints.
• Advise Builders, Field Sales, and Estimators on building codes, intricate framing situations, and unconventional geometries.
• Recognize exclusions, discrepancies, and missing details; seek clarification and validate quotations.
• Analyze customer information for cost-effective value-engineering options.
• Utilize current pricing data when developing estimates.
• Establish and nurture relationships with Builders/Vendors.
• Educate Builder Network and Field Sales on the in-house pricing tool.
• Clarify scope and design intent with Builders, Sales, Customer Service, and Engineering teams.
• Perform and/or verify complex estimates.
• Review Estimator design outputs.
• Train and guide less experienced Sales Engineers and Estimators.
• Create preliminary designs for Requests for Building Modifications.
• Represent the company as an engineering consultant in sales meetings.
• Report directly to the Estimating Manager.
• Travel is typically limited to fewer than 2 times per year.
• Capability to manage and prioritize multiple workflows at once.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and project specifications.
• Comfortable with phone communications with customers and Field Sales personnel.
• Familiarity with in-house design software and procedures.
• Knowledge of PEMB product offerings and design considerations.
• Ability to operate with minimal supervision and manage projects to ensure timely completion.
• A minimum of 2 years of metal building design experience or a related field for Level I.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil or architectural engineering from an ABET-accredited program, specializing in structural design, or equivalent work experience.
• Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
• AutoCAD experience is preferred.
• Licensed Professional Engineer is required for Level I and Level III; preferred for Level II.
• A minimum of 4 years of metal building design experience or a related field for Level II.
• Advanced PEMB expertise for Level II.
• A minimum of 10 years of metal building design experience or a related field for Level I/III.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
