This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Propel sales growth of metal-cutting tools among both new and existing customers, as well as Machine Tool clients.
• Cultivate and manage customer relationships while offering technical guidance and support.
• Generate, assess, and oversee sales leads, potential clients, and new customer accounts.
• Oversee the entire sales process, which includes prospecting, qualification, consultative sales meetings, product demonstrations, pricing, negotiations, and sourcing.
• Create and implement strategic territory plans aimed at achieving revenue targets and promoting new product sales.
• Respond to customers' pre-sales technical and commercial inquiries.
• Maintain customer and project documentation within the CRM system.
• Collaborate with Application Engineers, Channel Partner Representatives, Inside Sales, and other internal teams.
• Facilitate online and on-site product demonstrations, workshops, webinars, and territory events.
• Represent Kennametal at trade shows, conferences, and various events.
• Evaluate complex application requirements and offer tooling and application-testing recommendations to achieve cost efficiencies.
• Prepare and deliver reports on progress, status, and forecasting.
• Must reside in Virginia; specific location within the state is flexible.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the CNC machining industry.
• A technical degree or a degree in Business, Manufacturing, and/or Engineering is preferred.
• Preferred 1–2 years of experience in technical sales and/or application roles.
• Proficient in product knowledge, applications, and troubleshooting.
• Capable of customizing solutions to meet customer needs.
• Strong understanding of industry dynamics and alignment of products with customer needs and trends.
• Skilled in sales techniques, including handling objections and closing strategies.
• Ability to implement strategic sales plans and achieve targets.
• Strong critical thinking, presentation, and administrative capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills for conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Customer-oriented problem-solving approach.
• Detail-oriented with skills in contract review and project specifications.
• Creative and persuasive thinker at both tactical and strategic levels.
• Ability to work collaboratively across various departments.
• Willingness to travel throughout Virginia using a company-provided vehicle.
• Readiness to spend 80% or more of the week at customer sites.
• Some overnight travel may be required each month.
