Rover Control Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Establish control system requirements based on functional and performance needs at both the vehicle and subsystem levels.

• Design, analyze, develop, fine-tune, verify, and validate vehicle control systems.

• Create and enhance system simulations for controller design, analysis, and tuning utilizing tools such as Matlab, Simulink, and Python.

• Develop and prototype controllers that align with specified requirements.

• Assist in the sizing and selection of components for robotic control systems, including sensors and actuators.

• Evaluate and refine controller performance, stability, and robustness through simulations, testbeds, and empirical test data.

• Produce control system documentation and collaborate with the vehicle software team to transition controller prototypes into flight code.

• Facilitate unit and integrated testing of flight implementations.

• Aid in the calibration of integrated hardware and robotic control systems.

• Work alongside stakeholders and cross-functional engineering teams.

• Travel as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in a field related to Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).

• Over 5 years of experience in the development of robotic control systems.

• Proficient in building, testing, and validating control system simulation and analysis tools.

• Skilled in analyzing and tuning the performance of robotic control systems.

• Experienced in utilizing testbeds for evaluating control systems on flight-like hardware.

• Familiarity with Matlab/Simulink and the Matlab control systems toolbox or similar control system design and analysis software.
