Rotational Insurance Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Engage in rotation and provide assistance to the Underwriting, Loss Control, and Claims teams during the summer of 2027.

• Aid in the underwriting process for new business submissions, policy modifications, and assessment of additional information.

• Experience practical training in underwriting appetite, target classes, procedures, systems, and insurance expertise.

• Participate in agency visits alongside the Business Development Specialist.

• Join underwriting team meetings, encompassing Large Loss evaluations, Large Account Renewals, and weekly business unit synchronization.

• Conduct ride-alongs for Loss Control surveys.

• Support loss control data analysis and reporting tasks.

• Explore tools, technologies, or process enhancements aimed at minimizing portfolio-level losses.

• Assist Claims Operations with First Notices of Loss, basic first-party claims, reviews of policies and damage documentation, claim file investigations, and operational/system processes.

• Gain experience in claim handling procedures, customer service, coverage analysis, and documentation standards.

• Perform analysis of loss trends and operational research.

• Develop insights and recommendations that aid in loss mitigation, liability and coverage assessments, recovery opportunities, and strategic initiatives.

• Must be a full-time undergraduate student.

• Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university.

• Pursuing a degree in Risk & Insurance Management, Occupational Safety, EHS, Business, or a related field.

• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.

• Resourceful with strong problem-solving skills.

• Capable of thriving in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines.

• High energy, self-motivated, and proactive attitude.

• Strong collaboration skills.

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
