Risk & Underwriting Specialist II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +10 more states.

📋 Description

• Evaluate merchant account applications in line with credit policies, industry regulations, and compliance standards.

• Oversee and verify the accuracy of daily bank documentation and transaction data.

• Perform customer validation for both new and existing merchants, including checks against OFAC Sanctions Lists.

• Keep merchant account details current across internal systems and acquirer platforms.

• Manage changes to merchant accounts, including fee modifications, distribution configurations, and contact information updates.

• Conduct quality assurance audits for merchant configurations and settings.

• Address merchant queries via email in accordance with the department's established service level.

• Assist in the onboarding and oversight of merchants through the acquirer portal.

• Support both internal and external audits, encompassing card brand reporting and compliance assessments.

• Identify opportunities for process enhancements and suggest updates to standard operating procedures.

• Collaborate with colleagues and assist in special projects assigned by management.

• Handle merchant account terminations in compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.

• Leverage approved GenAI tools to expedite high-impact deliverables.

• Exercise critical judgment as the human-in-the-loop by reviewing AI-generated outputs.

• Ensure that proprietary or personally identifiable information is safeguarded from unauthorized models.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2–4 years of experience in Accounting, Banking, or the Payments sector.

• Preferred experience in underwriting focused on payment processing, including both domestic and international accounts.

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

• College coursework or a degree in a relevant field is preferred.

• Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a keen attention to detail.

• Knowledge of underwriting practices and risk management within payment processing.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Capability to adhere to and contribute to established procedures and policies.

• Strong organizational skills and time management in a fast-paced environment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

• Availability to work Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with flexibility to extend hours as necessary, including on select holidays.

• Ability to effectively prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and manage workload efficiently.

• Capacity to thrive in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment.

• Professional engagement with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Proficient in utilizing company-approved GenAI tools.

• Ability to review AI outputs for factual correctness, brand consistency, and potential inaccuracies.
