Senior Underwriting Assistant – Transportation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Assist in achieving the operational and service goals of the S&S Transportation Specialty Auto team.

• Aid in the evaluation, preparation, processing, and upkeep of underwriting and policy details for both new and renewal business.

• Ensure accuracy of data entry in underwriting systems, including classifications for auto and general liability and loss schedules.

• Confirm documentation for coverage and limits.

• Liaise with internal and external business partners to gather necessary information and address processing-related inquiries.

• Create and verify policy documents utilizing internal systems.

• Authorize policy drafts within the assigned authority and escalate issues when necessary.

• Record premiums and ensure accurate postings.

• Distribute approved policies and relay data to third-party organizations, including Workers Compensation bureaus and DMV.

• Manage endorsements, cancellations, and reinstatements.

• Work collaboratively with departments to address policy inquiries and enhance processes.

• Engage in system testing, training, process enhancement initiatives, and special projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in insurance or underwriting support is essential.

• Proficient knowledge of Policy Decisions (Insurity) is required, particularly in the application of Auto Insurance rates and rules.

• Experience in the insurance industry is preferred, especially with Commercial Auto or Specialty Auto business.

• Basic understanding of insurance forms, endorsements, classifications, and exposure details.

• Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and other business technology tools.

• Strong analytical, mathematical, and data review capabilities.

• Effective organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to juggle multiple tasks while consistently adhering to established procedures.

• Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
