Risk Control Advisor, Property

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Offer risk enhancement consultation to large and mid-sized commercial clients within the Property Business Unit in the United States.

• Assess processes, perform on-site evaluations of current and potential clients, and support underwriters in account selection and pricing.

• Monitor account-level trends and communicate efficiently with clients and brokers.

• Execute surveys at client locations to identify hazards and risk factors for underwriting and risk selection.

• Examine loss trends and pinpoint opportunities to provide risk control products and services that mitigate losses.

• Review engineering documents and generate client-facing reports.

• Prioritize and assess new and renewal workloads to achieve departmental objectives.

• Participate in client and broker meetings, lunches, dinners, and other social events as appropriate.

• Foster relationships with current and prospective clients.

• Ensure adherence to relevant codes and standards while monitoring changes pertinent to loss control.

• Investigate new technologies for the delivery of loss control services.

• Create thought leadership articles or develop Risk Control library resources as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related discipline.

• Relevant professional designations or certifications, such as EIT, PE, CFPS, or ARM, are highly preferred.

• In-depth knowledge of fire protection, property construction protection and exposures, as well as business interruption exposures and controls.

• A minimum of 5–7 years of experience in risk control.

• Experience in fire protection is essential.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Ability to strategically plan and prioritize workload to achieve objectives.

• Capability to work collaboratively as a team player.

• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.

• Expertise in property loss control skills.
