Residential Construction Senior Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +6 more states.

📋 Description

• Conduct thorough evaluations of residential construction contracts to ensure compliance with policies.

• Detect and address inconsistencies in contracts while informing borrowers and builders of associated risks.

• Perform preliminary reviews of builders.

• Engage in discussions regarding the construction process and necessary disclosures with builders and borrowers during the loan application phase.

• Authenticate and finalize construction budgets for inspection and draw procedures.

• Assess builder deposits and methods for recoupment.

• Dispatch welcome letters to both customers and builders.

• Offer onboarding support to Mortgage Loan Originators (MLOs) and provide approved items to CLA funding specialists.

• Review third-party inspection reports and make determinations on draw-related matters.

• Oversee the active construction loan portfolio, monitoring for progress, negative trends, and risks.

• Facilitate communication between all involved parties.

• Provide guidance on disputed loans and lien/legal conflicts, collaborating with Special Assets and Legal departments.

• Approve builders, contracts, final construction budgets, deposit advances, recoupment methods, and minor procedural exceptions.

• Support consumer loans that involve legal or lien issues and offer advice on insurance loss claims.

• Mentor and coach junior specialists, funding specialists, and mortgage personnel.

• Address complex situations and deliver operational oversight throughout the entire construction loan lifecycle.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.

• 10 years of experience in residential mortgage lending, residential construction, or a combination of both.

• State Builder or General Contractor License.

• In-depth understanding of residential mortgage lending and residential construction.

• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

• Capability to communicate effectively in person, via phone, and through electronic means.

• Proficiency in using a computer regularly, including typing and maintaining focus on a monitor.

• Ability to sit, walk, and/or stand for extended durations.

• Capacity to bend and reach as needed.
