This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Gather, assess, and oversee data pertaining to political violence and protests throughout Yemen.

• Analyze reports from news outlets, international organizations, NGOs, and security agencies.

• Log incidents of political violence using an Excel template.

• Categorize events ranging from protests to armed conflicts to ensure comprehensive coverage of ongoing political violence.

• Maintain the quality, consistency, and dependability of the data produced.

• Deliver submissions mid-week and on weekends as necessary.

• Complete comprehensive ACLED training and exercises.

• Provide meticulous quantitative data production and management.

⛳️ Requirements

• A university degree in international relations, political science, conflict studies, peacebuilding, international development, or a related discipline.

• Proficiency in Excel (mandatory).

• Fluency in English (mandatory).

• Fluency in Arabic (mandatory).

• Experience in conducting desk-based research.

• Proven ability to work to deadlines with minimal supervision.

• Strong attention to detail and the capacity to accept and integrate feedback.

• Research focus or professional background in conflict research or peacebuilding in the Middle East, or country-specific studies is a significant advantage.

• Understanding of conflicts and key players in the relevant countries.

• Access to a computer, a reliable internet connection, email, and the Microsoft Office Suite.

• Availability for a minimum of 35 to 40 hours per week.

• Capacity to work with conflict-related media and engage with content about violent events.

• Applicants from any nationality are welcome.

• Successful completion of ACLED training exercises at the required standard.

• Ability to undertake a two-hour coding aptitude test if shortlisted.
