Cyber Threat Researcher, Europe or LATAM

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Identify areas where knowledge is lacking and create intelligence leads to meet customer intelligence collection needs.

• Monitor both open and restricted-access sources, such as underground forums, marketplaces, and instant messaging groups.

• Discover and evaluate the motivations, goals, targets, capabilities, and methods of operation of cyber threat actors.

• Actively track and attribute financially motivated cyber threat actors.

• Collaborate on specialized research projects that involve cybercriminal infrastructure, malware campaigns, cybercriminal commodities, and compromised data.

• Present collection and research findings and assessments through clear and concise reporting in English.

• Address customer Requests for Information (RFI) and ad-hoc inquiries from internal Intel 471 team members.

• Empower customers to fully leverage Intel 471’s Cybercrime Intelligence products.


⛳️ Requirements

• Comprehensive understanding of the cyber threat landscape, including risks, threats, actors and groups, motivations, tools, capabilities, attacks, and campaigns.

• Prior professional experience in monitoring and researching the cybercrime underground, including restricted-access forums, marketplaces, instant messaging channels, and other criminal ecosystems.

• Strong knowledge and experience in operational security (OPSEC) and persona development, preferably within the cybercrime underground sector.

• Practical experience in vHUMINT collection methods, including the creation, development, and management of personas in cybercrime-focused environments is preferred.

• Technical skills related to malware analysis, exploits, and vulnerabilities are advantageous.

• Ability to work both independently and within a close-knit team, engaging in proactive research activities with minimal direction.

• Exceptional writing, communication, and interpersonal skills in English.

• Proficiency in at least one additional language: Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, or French.

• Previous experience in cyber threat research or cybercrime investigation fields is preferred.

• A degree in Cyber Security, Intelligence Analysis, Computer Science, or related fields is highly desirable.
