This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Provide exceptional legal research and retrieval services to support Harbor’s law firm clients.
• Execute comprehensive legal, business, and additional research and reference tasks utilizing both legal and non-legal information resources.
• Conduct reference interviews and compile findings into clear, concise, and actionable reports.
• Assess information sources for their currency, reliability, relevance, and cost-effectiveness.
• Choose suitable research tools and databases for various tasks.
• Maintain a high level of expertise across legal, business, legislative, analytics, and docket resources, including Lexis, Westlaw, Bloomberg Law, PACER, WK VitalLaw, and Lex Machina.
• Employ request tracking software to manage, process, and document research activities.
• Assist with intellectual property research related to patents, trademarks, copyrights, and other related fields.
• Stay updated through professional development and involvement in library associations and relevant activities.
• MLS (Master of Library Science) or equivalent experience in legal research within a law firm, academic law library, special library, or research center.
• 5–7 years of professional research experience in a private law firm, academic law library, special library, or research-focused organization.
• Strong understanding of legal and business information sources, including online database searching, legal research methodologies, and business intelligence acquisition.
• Proven experience with Lexis, Westlaw, and other primary legal research platforms.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Capability to manage and prioritize multiple deadlines while ensuring responsiveness and attention to detail.
• Excellent client service orientation paired with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Highly organized with effective time management skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a service-oriented team environment.
• J.D. preferred.
