This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oklahoma.
• Perform in-depth legal research on matters related to trucking litigation, catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, and associated topics.
• Investigate and assess federal and state trucking regulations, encompassing FMCSA regulations, safety standards, and compliance mandates.
• Examine case law, statutes, regulations, administrative rulings, and other legal sources across pertinent jurisdictions.
• Draft legal research memoranda, case analyses, briefs, motions, pleadings, and various written documents.
• Evaluate intricate legal and factual matters, identifying authorities, arguments, risks, and pathways for additional research.
• Aid in discovery and litigation research by reviewing accident reports, medical documents, corporate records, deposition transcripts, and other relevant case materials.
• Assist in formulating legal theories and case strategies through focused research and written evaluations.
• Investigate trucking operations, driver qualifications, hours of service, maintenance protocols, safety measures, electronic logging devices, and carrier policies.
• Stay updated on changes in trucking law, regulations, safety standards, and noteworthy case rulings.
• Establish and maintain organized research resources with precise citations and source documentation.
• Provide prompt research and writing support for depositions, hearings, motions, mediation, and trial preparations.
• Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, experts, and other team members.
• Monitor assignments, deadlines, and research projects in a non-billable hourly context.
• Contribute to the Firm’s trial-first philosophy with comprehensive, practical, and well-supported legal analysis.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in Oklahoma, or the capability to secure admission in due time.
• Three to six years of legal practice experience, with substantial legal research and writing proficiency.
• Outstanding research, writing, analytical, organizational, and communication capabilities.
• Proficient at identifying, evaluating, synthesizing, and clearly articulating complex legal authorities.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to generate accurate, well-supported written documents.
• Capability to handle multiple research tasks and deadlines in a remote work setup.
• Ability to work autonomously while effectively collaborating with attorneys and other team members.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for Firm meetings, litigation support, and training sessions.
• Active Oklahoma license and the potential to gain admission in Missouri are advantageous.
• Experience in plaintiff-side personal injury, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, or trucking litigation is a plus.
• Federal judicial clerkship experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with federal and state trucking regulations, including FMCSA regulations, is beneficial.
• Experience in conducting complex legal research for litigation or trial preparation is advantageous.
• Background in drafting legal research memoranda, motions, briefs, or appellate work is an asset.
• Proficiency in researching commercial motor carriers, truck drivers, trucking safety, or transportation laws is a plus.
• Experience in trial or litigation support is beneficial.
