📋 Description

• Develops compelling narratives that effectively inform, engage, and empower audiences.

• Produces accountability and enterprise journalism centered on government performance, transparency, and public outcomes.

• Cultivates strong connections with residents, community leaders, public officials, and institutional stakeholders.

• Establishes and sustains long-term reporting arcs that monitor commitments, implementation efforts, and measurable results.

• Leverages data, public records, and document-based reporting to reveal trends and ensure institutional accountability.

• Creates video, social media, and digital storytelling to enhance the reach and impact of reporting.

• Collaborates with audience, visual, investigative, and beat reporters throughout the newsroom.

• Partners with content and audience strategists to pinpoint information needs and bolster community engagement.

• Captures basic photographs and videos when appropriate.

• Advocates for personal branding, newsroom branding, and the mission of the USA TODAY Network.

• Delivers service journalism that aids readers in finding answers and navigating public systems.

• Bachelor's degree or a comparable combination of education and experience.

• Demonstrated history of strong reporting and enterprise journalism.

• Capability to develop sources and foster trust within diverse communities.

• Strong news judgment and instincts for accountability reporting.

• Experience utilizing public records, data, and document-driven reporting.

• Exceptional interviewing, research, and storytelling abilities.

• Proficiency in AP style.

• Awareness of digital audience requirements, SEO, and social media strategy.

• Preferably experienced in producing or participating in video journalism.

• Strong ethical standards and a commitment to accurate, fair reporting.

• Openness to experimenting with new tools and storytelling formats, including the responsible use of AI.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and within the USA TODAY Network.

• Comfort in balancing the demands of breaking news with long-term enterprise projects.

• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and minimum state-required auto insurance.

• Resume, cover letter, and links to 3–6 online work samples compiled into a single PDF document.
