Remote Accounting Manager – Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kenya.

📋 Description

• Direct and oversee Staff Accountants and team members

• Take ownership of the quality and punctuality of assigned client financials

• Delegate, prioritize, monitor, and adjust tasks across the team

• Provide coaching, mentorship, and constructive performance feedback to team members

• Make informed accounting and operational decisions and assume responsibility for team results

• Identify, investigate, resolve, and implement solutions to accounting, operational, and client-related challenges

• Organize ongoing daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual tasks across various client workflows

• Supervise bookkeeping and accounting for U.S.-based restaurant and multi-unit clients

• Record and categorize transactions; conduct and review bank and credit card reconciliations

• Manage and evaluate accounts payable and accounts receivable processes

• Prepare, review, and analyze Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow Statements, supporting schedules, and reconciliations

• Oversee month-end closing activities and assist with quarterly hard closes, Quality Control reviews, and audits

• Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready client records and documentation in QuickBooks Online and Restaurant365

• Utilize practical accounting judgment and adjust processes to meet client needs and adapt to changing circumstances

• Evolve into a more client-facing accounting leader

• Communicate financial information effectively with restaurant owners, operators, and financial stakeholders

• Collaborate with Relationship Managers on client-ready financial statements and insights

• Work alongside U.S.-based accountants, Relationship Managers, Quality Control Leads, and internal support teams

• Document workflows, revise SOPs, identify inefficiencies, and implement approved process enhancements

• Leverage accounting technology, AI, and automation to boost efficiency and accuracy while validating automated outputs

• Assist clients in transitioning from QuickBooks Online to Restaurant365 as necessary

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

• At least 7–10+ years of practical accounting or bookkeeping experience

• CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting certification

• Proven leadership or supervisory experience managing accounting or bookkeeping personnel

• Experience in directing others, managing deadlines, reviewing accounting work, providing corrective feedback, and taking responsibility for team outcomes

• Strong knowledge of financial statements, accrual accounting, account reconciliations, month-end closing, and U.S. accounting principles and best practices

• Advanced hands-on expertise in QuickBooks Online

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English

• High level of attention to detail and accuracy

• Strong organizational and workflow management skills

• Ability to manage multiple clients and priorities simultaneously

• Strong professional judgment and independent problem-solving skills

• Proven ability to take ownership and follow through

• Capability to work effectively with minimal supervision

• Availability to work 40 hours per week with significant overlap with U.S. business hours

• Experience with Restaurant365 preferred but not mandatory

• Background in supporting U.S.-based clients, restaurants, franchises, hospitality businesses, multi-location organizations, client accounting services, outsourced accounting, or professional services preferred

• Experience leading client calls, presenting financial information, documenting SOPs, enhancing processes, or utilizing AI/automation in professional workflows preferred
