Reliability Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with plant reliability teams and cross-functional departments to create and implement standardized maintenance strategies for both existing and new equipment.

• Plan, develop, and execute best practices in maintenance management and reliability engineering.

• Advocate for asset health assurance, predictive and preventive maintenance, root cause analysis, component reliability, and Operator-Driven Reliability.

• Standardize preventive and predictive maintenance approaches across Smithfield facilities.

• Share best practices, address root causes, and execute procedural changes to enhance equipment reliability and performance.

• Work in partnership with plant engineers, corporate teams, and vendors to tackle engineering challenges and recurring equipment failures.

• Identify cost-saving opportunities through enhanced equipment reliability, extended parts life, and optimized labor costs.

• Recognize training opportunities and cultivate a high-performance maintenance workforce.

• Utilize CMMS/SAP for data analysis and actionable insights on reliability.

• Evaluate asset performance and provide recommendations on whether equipment should be repaired or replaced.

• Lead engineers as necessary and offer training and guidance to plant staff, Project Engineers, and Senior Project Engineers.

• Carry out supervisory responsibilities, including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and resolving complaints and issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering or a related field, along with 5+ years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

• A minimum of 2+ years in a leadership role, encompassing team development and management, is required.

• Familiarity with engineering principles and techniques relevant to food processing and the meat industry.

• Proficient in SAP and CMMS.

• Skilled in Microsoft Suite products.

• Capacity to effectively communicate technical ideas and concepts.

• Willingness to travel to other locations up to 50% of the time.

• Ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and design challenges.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with strong organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability skills.

• Capable of collaborating effectively with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

• Ability to be respectful, approachable, and team-oriented while fostering strong working relationships and a positive work atmosphere.
