This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the complete software release process, which encompasses deployment sequencing and authority on release day decisions.

• Act as the Release Manager for intricate and high-stakes releases, responsible for making go/no-go decisions.

• Conduct production readiness assessments and verify deployment plans, rollback strategies, and environment gating.

• Facilitate post-release retrospectives and transform insights into pipeline or process improvements.

• Spearhead enterprise change management procedures and governance initiatives.

• Chair the Change Advisory Board (CAB) and oversee standard, emergency, expedited, and planned changes.

• Implement separation of duties, ensure rollback readiness, manage change-to-incident attribution, enforce change freezes, facilitate communications, and ensure compliance.

• Evaluate deployment and change-related risks, investigate failed changes, and drive corrective measures.

• Collaborate with Incident Management on root-cause analyses and assess the impact of change-related incidents.

• Own the continuous improvement of change and release engineering by utilizing change-failure data.

• Develop a multi-year roadmap for risk-based, automated change controls.

• Create pipeline-generated change records, automated risk assessments, evidence-based approvals, and deployment gates within CI/CD.

• Work alongside DevOps and other engineering teams to enhance deployment pipelines, test gating, and implement safer deployment practices.

• Broaden Standard Change and tiered pre-approval coverage.

• Own release and change KPIs, dashboards, and reporting, including metrics aligned with DORA.

• Present operational health updates to engineering and SMO leadership.

• Provide technical direction across DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering, and development teams.

• Hold change authority during emergency changes, high-risk releases, and significant incidents, including on-call and after-hours responsibilities.

• Collaborate with NOC and Incident Management leaders on cross-training, coverage, and alignment between changes and incidents.

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team while managing priorities, automation capabilities, and performance.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in Release Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or a related software delivery role.

• Direct involvement in production deployments within complex, multi-team settings.

• Extensive hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or similar, and release orchestration.

• Proven experience leading Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings, release governance forums, or similar processes for managing technical risks associated with production changes.

• Strong knowledge of ITSM/ITIL change management principles, types of changes, risk classification, and operational controls.

• Capability to evaluate deployment plans, rollback strategies, technical dependencies, and associated risks of changes.

• Proficiency in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or pipeline-as-code frameworks.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to independently solve problems and drive data-informed process improvements.

• Experience in automating change and release workflows using Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms, including API and CI/CD integrations.

• Experience in supporting releases across AWS, Azure, GCP, or hybrid infrastructures.

• Must currently possess authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
