This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +3 more countries.
• Take ownership of the vision, strategy, and execution roadmap for identity, authentication, and authorization across SMB and Enterprise.
• Lead delivery and outcomes for the Authentication & Authorization team.
• Implement a new identity platform across Enterprise offerings.
• Develop and execute a migration strategy from the SMB legacy service to Enterprise architecture.
• Revise legacy authentication services while minimizing risk and technical debt.
• Ensure high levels of security, compliance, performance, and trust.
• Collaborate with Product, Security, Compliance, and Core Platform teams to align priorities and manage dependencies.
• Facilitate technical discussions and navigate complex architectural trade-offs.
• Enhance software development, operational excellence, quality, and methodologies.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of 6–10 software engineers.
• Report directly to the VP of Engineering.
• Reinforce delivery rhythm and operational excellence.
• Achieve migration and modernization milestones while establishing a sustainable path between SMB and Enterprise authentication architectures.
• Extensive experience as an Engineering Manager or in a similar people-lead role, including coaching and performance support.
• Strong hands-on technical expertise in authentication and authorization domains and standards such as OAuth, SAML, and OIDC.
• Familiarity with modern identity platforms like Amazon Cognito, Auth0, or Stytch within a product-centric organization.
• Architectural credibility with a proven track record of guiding teams through technical complexities, migrations, and legacy constraints.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills across engineering, product, and risk-focused partners.
• Clear and consistent communication abilities.
• Capacity to lead through uncertainty and generate momentum.
• Experience as a software architect or staff-level engineer prior to moving into people leadership (desirable).
• Background in security- or compliance-sensitive domains (desirable).
• Proven experience in scaling teams through hiring and defined ownership while maintaining delivery quality (desirable).
