This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada.
• Apply electrical theory to implement methods and troubleshoot test procedures for client protection and control systems.
• Design substations in accordance with relevant codes and client specifications.
• Generate general arrangements, equipment and electrical layouts, elevation views, cable trenches, grounding, conduit drawings, details, bills of material, and AC/DC power systems.
• Develop ground grids using applicable codes and industry-standard software.
• Execute AC/DC load, bus span, and ampacity calculations.
• Create specifications for equipment and materials for the procurement of engineered equipment.
• Formulate design scopes and cost estimates.
• Complete conceptual designs and layouts for facility planning studies.
• Lead and/or engage in client meetings and job site visits to gather or present design and engineering information.
• Conduct and ensure adherence to company QA/QC processes for design packages.
• Associate of Science in Electrical Technology (AET) or equivalent specialized training in system protection.
• At least 1 year of experience in commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing, and repairing substation relaying and control systems.
• Proficient in using a simple volt-ohm-meter and working with hand tools.
• Skilled in reading and interpreting One Line, AC & DC Elementary, and Wiring diagrams.
• Competent in computer usage, computer networking, and Android/iPhone app navigation.
• Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of software.
• Experience in mapping drive letters for server connections.
• Familiarity with obtaining, installing, and connecting handheld device apps to “The Cloud” or other locations as necessary.
• Capability to perform regular fieldwork in various work environments, conditions, and weather.
• Ability to learn and implement client’s switching procedures and safety protocols under direct supervision.
• Competence in referencing and completing tasks as specified in applicable documentation.
• Quick to learn and apply testing procedures for different types of substation equipment.
• Capability to engage in physical activities such as pushing, pulling, lifting, and bending in all weather conditions.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs. without assistance.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• Must have the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
