Registered Dietitian, Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Offer virtual and telephonic education on nutrition and diabetes to patients via First Stop Health for accepted care engagements.

• Provide diabetes self-management education, support, and lifestyle coaching for both individuals and groups.

• Collaborate with First Stop Health clinicians and other treating or supporting healthcare professionals when clinically appropriate.

• Adhere to relevant clinical, regulatory, patient safety, privacy, security, contractual, and documentation standards.

• Complete necessary documentation using the designated platform of First Stop Health.

• Connect patients with relevant resources and tools, including referrals and health information.

• Conduct thorough nutrition assessments, taking into account medical history, laboratory results, medications, lifestyle, and cultural preferences.

• Create personalized nutrition interventions and meal-planning advice based on evidence-based guidelines.

• Provide Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES), including carbohydrate counting, insulin management education, glucose monitoring, and problem-solving within the professional scope.

• Develop and present clinical and educational materials, including webinars and speaking engagements.

• Offer mutually agreed professional services related to clinical products, programs, or technology.

• Provide clinical or program outcome data and analysis within the agreed scope.

• Maintain all necessary professional licenses, credentials, and certifications required for contracted services.

• Independently assess and manage availability, ensuring timely and professional fulfillment of accepted appointments or service commitments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Current Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).

• Active and unrestricted dietitian license in the state of residence and any additional jurisdiction necessary for providing contracted services.

• Current Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) credential from the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education.

• Preferred 5+ years of relevant clinical experience.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a related field.

• Strong understanding of medical nutrition therapy for type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, prediabetes, cardiovascular and metabolic health, women's health, and lifecycle nutrition.

• Excellent communication skills, alongside abilities in motivational interviewing and behavior-change counseling.

• Cultural curiosity and experience in engaging with individuals from diverse social, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

• Proven ability to independently manage professional responsibilities, patient commitments, documentation, and deliverables.

• Capability to independently become proficient with technology necessary for delivering contracted services.

• Proficiency in Microsoft 365, electronic health record systems, and other technologies supporting virtual care.

• Ability to maintain necessary equipment, internet connectivity, privacy, and a professional environment for providing virtual services.

• Responsible for maintaining applicable licenses, certifications, insurance, equipment, and other requirements pertinent to independent practice and contracted services.
