This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Lead a sales team focused on promoting and expanding transformative treatments for serious, challenging, and often overlooked neurological, endocrine, and psychiatric disorders.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, coach, mentor, and retain a diverse, high-achieving sales team.
• Guide the team to meet and surpass sales targets within a designated geographic area.
• Provide leadership and strategic direction to the sales team.
• Be accountable for regional performance objectives, sales outcomes, field-day requirements, coaching, mentoring, and resource use.
• Plan, direct, implement, and supervise policies and activities for the assigned territory.
• Execute sales force strategies and marketing plans to achieve or exceed sales goals.
• Develop approaches to penetrate and segment markets related to psychiatric and movement disorders.
• Ensure cross-functional alignment, communication, and implementation at the territory level.
• Encourage innovation and collaborate with marketing and human resources.
• Identify regional opportunities and challenges.
• Review and analyze reports to meet quarterly and annual objectives.
• Manage regional expenses while maintaining budget discipline.
• Assist with training and onboarding initiatives.
• Uphold company policies, competencies, values, FDA guidelines, and pharmaceutical industry best practices.
• Cultivate relationships with local opinion leaders.
• Provide feedback to headquarters and sales management regarding customer, operational, and market issues.
• Train and coach the team on account-selling strategies, specialty fulfillment, and payer requirements.
• Manage and mentor relationships with key opinion leaders, professional and advocacy groups, long-term care facilities, payers, and pharmacies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• BS/BA degree AND 12+ years of sales experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, including 5+ years of first-line sales management experience.
• OR a Master's degree preferred AND 10+ years of related experience.
• OR a PhD AND 7+ years of related experience.
• Proven track record of successfully building sales teams, ideally in specialty pharmaceuticals within psychiatry, neurology, or anti-psychotic therapeutic areas.
• Demonstrated launch experience leading others in highly complex and competitive settings.
• Specialty pharmacy distribution experience is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with business systems, salesforce automation platforms, and business intelligence tools such as Salesforce.com, Oracle, SAP, Business Objects, COGNOS, QlikView, and Veeva.
• Proven sales performance as evidenced by quota attainment, ranking reports, and recognition awards.
• Deep passion for Patient and Caregiver Programs.
• Comprehensive understanding of industry standards, customer segments, specialty product distribution, and market access fundamentals.
• Exceptional leadership, relationship-building, coaching, mentoring, recruiting, and team retention skills.
• Proven ability to set and achieve ambitious business objectives.
• Strong understanding of healthcare regulatory and enforcement environments.
• Demonstrated capability to work cross-functionally and independently.
• High ethical standards.
• Ability to identify and recruit an outstanding sales team.
• Proficient in navigating complex accounts and diverse sites of care.
• Understanding of specialty fulfillment and payer requirements.
• Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and capability to operate a motor vehicle are required.
• Experience in Rare Disease Team Leadership is highly preferred.
• Specialty Pharmacy Launch experience is required.
• Expertise within Centers of Excellence and Academic Hospital Systems.
• Proven background in Account Management and organizational awareness.
