Regional Safety Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.

📋 Description

• Oversee, develop, and maintain the HSE Management System and DOT Programs for fixed regional locations.

• Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations regarding occupational health and safety, DOT, and EPA.

• Implement, maintain, and enhance health and safety policies, procedures, training, processes, and risk/hazard assessments.

• Provide support to the Rockies and Central regions, including SLC, ID, MT, WY, ND, CO, TX, and OK.

• Create site-specific programs and plans.

• Conduct regular site visits and safety meetings with branches.

• Identify and manage site-specific hazards and risks in collaboration with local management.

• Monitor and execute regional training programs.

• Ensure branches are accountable for compliance with safety and DOT programs.

• Create and implement emergency response plans, programs, drills, and scenarios.

• Assist with loss control and crisis management efforts.

• Report any HSE/DOT non-compliance or negligence to management.

• Manage incidents and investigations, including conducting root cause analyses and recommending corrective actions.

• Support disability management, workers' compensation claims, return-to-work, and modified work programs.

• Perform field and client audits, inspections, observations, onboarding, and orientations.

• Lead safety meetings, document minutes, and contribute to the development of agendas and discussion topics.

• Conduct formal hazard assessments and create and maintain SOPs.

• Implement management programs for subcontractors and contractors.

• Develop training programs for equipment, competencies, tasks, and locations.

• Create and maintain physical demands analyses for each position.

• Track and report on regional metrics and progress.

• Foster improvements in the company's safety culture and overall organizational culture.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, or an equivalent amount of relevant experience and education.

• A degree in industrial hygiene or occupational safety is advantageous.

• Willingness to travel 50–60% within the Rockies and Central regions, including weekly overnight stays.

• At least 5 years of experience in HSE.

• OSHA 30 Certification is required.

• Minimum of 5 years in incident investigation and root cause analysis.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in injury management and return-to-work programs.

• Knowledge and ability to interpret DOT, OSHA, EPA, and workers' compensation legislation.

• Familiarity with safety management software.

• Experience in program development, management, and implementation.

• Proficient in electronic management systems, dashboards, Microsoft Office, and Excel.

• Strong documentation control and reporting skills.

• Capability to analyze information, draw logical conclusions, make sound decisions, and resolve issues.

• Ability to work independently with initiative, judgment, and discretion.

• Capacity to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing priorities, meeting deadlines, anticipating challenges, and ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.

• Completion of pre-employment drug screening, including testing for THC and other substances.

• Full background check is required.
