Regional Safety Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Oversee, develop, and sustain the HSE Management System and DOT Programs for fixed locations in the region.

• Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations concerning occupational health and safety, DOT, and EPA.

• Establish, maintain, and enhance health and safety policies, procedures, training, processes, and risk/hazard assessments.

• Assist in the implementation and oversight of safety programs across the Rockies and Central regions.

• Create site-specific programs and plans tailored to individual locations.

• Perform scheduled site visits and lead safety meetings with branch teams.

• Recognize and manage site-specific hazards and risks in collaboration with local management.

• Oversee and execute regional training programs.

• Hold branches accountable for adhering to safety and DOT program standards.

• Develop and enforce HSE policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA and DOT regulations.

• Formulate emergency response plans, conduct drills, and assist in loss control and crisis management efforts.

• Report any HSE/DOT non-compliance or negligence to management.

• Manage incidents and investigations, including conducting root-cause analysis and making corrective-action recommendations.

• Provide support for disability management, workers' compensation claims, fit-for-duty assessments, return-to-work initiatives, and modified-work programs.

• Carry out field and client audits, inspections, onboarding, orientations, observations, and site visits.

• Lead safety meetings, document minutes, and contribute to the agenda and discussion topics.

• Develop and sustain formal hazard assessments, SOPs, and analyses of physical demands.

• Implement management programs for subcontractors and contractors.

• Create training programs that are equipment-, competency-, task-, and location-specific.

• Monitor and report regional metrics and progress on safety initiatives.

• Enhance the company's safety culture and overall work environment.

• Travel up to 50–60%, which includes weekly overnight stays, visits to customer work sites, company facilities, and business meetings.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; a degree in industrial hygiene or occupational safety is an advantage, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

• Must be open to traveling 50–60% within the Rockies and Central regions (SLC, ID, CO, MT, WY, TX, OK).

• Minimum of 5 years of HSE experience.

• OSHA 30 Certification is required.

• At least 5 years of experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis.

• A minimum of 5 years in injury management and return-to-work programs.

• Understanding and interpretation of DOT, OSHA, EPA, and workers' compensation regulations.

• Proficient in safety management software.

• Experience in developing, managing, and implementing programs.

• Skilled in electronic management systems, dashboards, Microsoft Office, and Excel.

• Background in documentation control and reporting.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and lead change-management efforts.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong critical thinking, logical reasoning, data analysis, problem-solving abilities, and independent judgment.

• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing priorities and meeting deadlines.

• Completion of pre-employment drug screening, including THC and other substances, as well as a comprehensive background check is required.
