Regional Manager, Western Region

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Manage and oversee multiple construction projects involving high-voltage substations, transmission, and interconnections throughout the Western region.

• Ensure timely completion of projects within budget while adhering to quality standards, safety regulations, and utility/NERC requirements.

• Track and monitor project progress, schedule risks, engineering processes, procurement, and utility milestones.

• Engage in go/no-go assessments for regional opportunities.

• Supervise and mentor Project Executives, Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Superintendents.

• Promote a collaborative and high-performance field organization with consistent operational practices.

• Conduct team meetings and daily/weekly PODs.

• Support career development for regional staff.

• Implement QEW qualifications and oversee safety audits, energized work permits, stop-work protocols, DART performance, and incident reporting.

• Act as the primary contact for clients and utilities; cultivate relationships and address any concerns.

• Collaborate with Business Development and Preconstruction teams on new initiatives, AVL qualification pursuits, and bids.

• Create and manage project budgets along with regional financial rollup.

• Monitor expenses, margins, change orders, and claims.

• Uphold quality standards, hold points, NCR tracking, and root-cause corrective actions.

• Generate reports detailing project status, financial performance, safety, and quality metrics.

• Maintain comprehensive and auditable project and qualification documentation.

• Identify regional risks and establish mitigation strategies.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred; however, candidates with equivalent high-voltage field experience may also apply.

• A minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in high-voltage substation, transmission line, and utility interconnection construction.

• Previous experience in a Project Executive role or in a multi-project field leadership position.

• Demonstrated experience in construction project management and budget forecasting, with a successful track record in a leadership capacity.

• Familiarity with the ISO and utility markets in the Western region, including CAISO and non-ISO Northwest and Southwest utility markets within WECC.

• Understanding of the utility Approved Vendor List (AVL) qualification process.

• Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) certification, or the ability to obtain it within the first 90 days of employment.

• Strong comprehension of high-voltage construction processes, NERC and utility interconnection requirements, and safety regulations.

• Capability to lead a geographically dispersed team.

• Proficiency in analyzing complex situations and making informed decisions under pressure related to schedule and margins.

• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills across a multi-project regional portfolio.

• Familiarity with project management, estimating, and productivity-tracking software and tools such as Sunscreen, Workday, Heavy Job/Heavy Bid.

• Extensive travel within the region is necessary.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship either now or in the future.
