Regional Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Senegal.

📋 Description

• Implement and execute MEDA's strategic plan at both the regional and portfolio levels.

• Guide regional and country strategies to align with MEDA's corporate strategy, impact objectives, and financial goals.

• Enhance MEDA's visibility through publications, conferences, industry events, and engagements with donors and policy groups.

• Establish strategic partnerships with host governments, funding organizations, and key regional stakeholders.

• Work collaboratively with senior leaders and colleagues across divisions to enhance MEDA's initiatives.

• Identify new business opportunities and assist in proposal development.

• Lead operational and technical teams, establish performance objectives, and ensure accountability.

• Contribute to divisional standards and project management excellence as a member of the Global Programs senior leadership team.

• Promote a collaborative culture and empower staff members.

• Guide regional and country teams through change initiatives and mentor Program Leads in change management.

• Oversee recruitment, retention, development, and performance of direct reports.

• Review and approve work plans and budgets, ensuring delivery within approved parameters.

• Monitor progress against plans and report to the Vice President, Global Programs.

• Manage compliance and risk associated with donor, partner, and subcontractor agreements.

• Sustain donor relationships and oversee fund stewardship.

• Approve financial and narrative reports for donors.

• Review and authorize financial requests and budget modifications.

• Ensure regional operations adhere to local laws, donor agreements, and MEDA policies, procedures, and standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, International Economic Development, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Development Finance, or a related discipline.

• At least 10 years of professional management experience in project development and implementation, staff management, program planning, budgeting, and consulting services.

• Experience collaborating with bilateral and multilateral donors, government entities, NGOs, and development organizations.

• Proven track record in supporting entrepreneurial and small-business agricultural development initiatives in rural settings.

• Demonstrated leadership in managing diverse and geographically dispersed teams.

• Expertise in strategic planning and execution.

• Proficiency in program and portfolio management.

• Experience in financial oversight and budget management.

• Knowledge of donor compliance and contract management.

• Expertise in business development and partnership cultivation.

• Proficiency in change management and organizational leadership.

• Skills in stakeholder engagement and relationship management.

• Strong alignment with and support for MEDA's mission, vision, values, and faith statement.

• Understanding and appreciation of business principles, international development, and MEDA's approach to alleviating poverty through business solutions.

• Willingness and ability to travel frequently internationally to developing countries.

• Excellent skills in relationship-building, networking, presentations, negotiations, and interpersonal communication.

• Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.

• Highly motivated, self-driven, and results-oriented.

• Must be eligible to work legally in the country where the position is based; MEDA does not provide sponsorship or assistance with work permits.
