This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Investigate, assess, negotiate, and resolve automobile liability claims.
• Ensure adherence to insurance laws, company policies, and regulatory standards.
• Review assigned claims and reach out to insured individuals and affected parties.
• Set clear expectations for the ongoing claims process.
• Initiate documentation within the claims handling system.
• Conduct comprehensive coverage analysis to identify all potential benefits for policyholders.
• Create additional sub-claims as necessary.
• Investigate claim details to assess payment eligibility, applicable limits or exclusions, and recovery opportunities.
• Review damages and assess the applicability of state law and other relevant factors.
• Evaluate the financial impact of losses.
• Authorize payments to appropriate parties.
• Refer claims to Underwriting, Recovery Units, or the Claims Special Investigation Unit as required.
• Document and code claim files while completing claim closure procedures in the claims management system.
• Negotiate settlements for claims.
• For APD assignments, manage total loss settlements, inspect vehicles, and prepare damage estimates.
• For DRS Examiner assignments, oversee Direct Repair Shops for program compliance.
• Determine the cause of damage, establish liability, identify subrogation potential, monitor repairs, and authorize car rental expenses.
• Handle straightforward APD litigation cases as applicable.
• Operate remotely from a home office for daily tasks while occasionally traveling for meetings, collaboration, or team-building activities as directed by leadership.
• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Completion of the ACG Claim Representative Training Program or equivalent knowledge or experience.
• Eligible to obtain a State Adjuster’s license within 90 days of hire where required and maintain it as specified.
• A valid driver's license is necessary if primary responsibilities include in-person inspections or frequent face-to-face meetings.
• A minimum of two years of experience or equivalent training in negotiating claim settlements, collecting and evaluating evidence, preparing both manual and electronic estimates, identifying subrogation recovery opportunities, resolving coverage inquiries, gathering statements, and establishing claim evaluation and resolution strategies.
• Advanced understanding of the Essential Insurance Act (Michigan).
• Familiarity with the Fair Trade Practices Act in relation to claims.
• Knowledge of subrogation procedures and processes.
• Understanding of intercompany arbitration.
• Proficiency in managing simple litigation cases.
• Knowledge of Negligence Law and No-Fault Law.
• Familiarity with collision repair techniques.
• Ability to manage claims in accordance with Claim Handling Standards.
• Capability to adhere to and implement ACG Claim policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Proficient in utilizing assigned ACG Claim systems, including basic PC software.
• Basic skills in claim file review and investigation.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Problem-solving and sound decision-making capabilities.
• Ability to prioritize tasks related to claims.
• Competence in processing time-sensitive data and information from multiple sources.
• Effective time management, organization, and planning skills for workload and responsibilities.
• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle for visits to repair facilities, homes, patients, and other locations.
• Capacity to research, analyze, and interpret subrogation laws across various states.
• Willingness to travel outside of assigned territory, potentially including overnight stays.
• Flexibility to relocate and work during evenings or weekends.
• Preferred: Associate degree in Business Administration, Insurance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Preferred: Completion of Insurance Institute of America programs, Associate in Claims, Associate in Management, or equivalent.
• Preferred: CPCU coursework or designation.
• Preferred: I-Car ProLevel training.
