Real Estate Review Appraiser – Right of Way

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate, analyze, and authorize appraisals for right of way initiatives, corridor acquisitions, easements, and eminent domain actions

• Ensure adherence to technical standards set by UASFLA, USPAP, and federal regulations

• Prepare written appraisal assessments and recommendations for leadership

• Act as a resource and advisor to project managers, legal counsel, and acquisition specialists concerning valuation methodologies

• Mentor and offer technical support to junior appraisers and acquisition personnel

• Represent the agency as an expert witness in administrative hearings and judicial proceedings

• Create and sustain internal guidelines, policies, and training related to appraisal and review procedures

⛳️ Requirements

• MAI (Appraisal Institute) or ARA (ASFMRA) certification

• Certified General Appraiser license in accordance with standards established by the Appraiser Qualifications Board

• Bachelor's degree or higher in real estate, finance, economics, business, or a related discipline

• At least 8–10 years of progressively responsible experience in real estate appraisal, with a minimum of 3 years focused on review appraisal for federal land acquisition projects

• Proven knowledge of UASFLA (Yellow Book), USPAP, 49 CFR Part 24 (Uniform Act), and eminent domain appraisal methodologies

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of preparing review reports and delivering expert testimony

• Preferred: Experience with federal or state agency right of way acquisition programs

• Preferred: Background in coordinating with legal teams, engineers, and acquisition specialists

• Preferred: Familiarity with federal land acquisition regulations and relocation assistance programs

• Preferred: Previous experience as a review appraiser for federal land acquisition, corridor, or large-scale infrastructure projects
