
Quantum Algorithm Development Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
β’ Develop and assess quantum computing algorithms for optimization, machine learning, and similar applications.
β’ Create simulations and prototypes utilizing both quantum and classical computing tools.
β’ Evaluate and contrast quantum and classical methodologies through numerical experimentation.
β’ Explore a specific technical or research question with support from team members.
β’ Contribute to research projects, technical documentation, presentations, and proof-of-concept initiatives.
β’ Work collaboratively with internal teams and, when applicable, external researchers from academic institutions, national laboratories, and the industry.
β’ Identify real-world problems that could benefit from advancements in quantum computing.
β’ Implement best practices in scientific computing, data analysis, and algorithm development.
β’ Communicate progress, ask questions, and integrate feedback throughout the project.
β’ Current undergraduate student entering their senior year, a current graduate student, or a recent graduate pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Electrical Engineering, or a similar quantitative or technical discipline.
β’ Coursework, research, or project experience in Quantum Computing, Linear Algebra, Algorithms, Mathematical Optimization, Machine Learning, or Scientific Computing.
β’ Proficiency in programming with Python or a comparable technical programming language.
β’ Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving capabilities.
β’ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clarify technical concepts effectively.
β’ Proven curiosity, initiative, and eagerness to learn.
β’ Interest in emerging technologies and their practical applications.
β’ Some prior exposure to quantum computing is required.
β’ A dedicated, private workspace free from distractions when working remotely.
β’ Suitable desk and seating arrangements when working from home.
β’ Reliable internet connection with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload.
