Quality Engineering, Application Modernization Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with product owners, architects, developers, and cloud engineers to integrate quality into the software development lifecycle.

• Assess business, functional, technical, and cloud architecture requirements to formulate quality engineering strategies and testing methodologies.

• Create, develop, and sustain automated testing frameworks for web applications, APIs, microservices, cloud-native solutions, and data integration platforms.

• Design and implement automated functional, regression, integration, performance, and user acceptance tests.

• Assist in application modernization efforts, including the transition of legacy Oracle-based applications and databases to AWS, Azure, or other cloud services.

• Validate data migration, data conversion, ETL processes, API integrations, and system interoperability.

• Incorporate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps workflows.

• Work with Agile Scrum teams to define acceptance criteria, ensure requirements are testable, and set quality gates.

• Create and maintain automation scripts, test data, test harnesses, and reusable testing resources.

• Identify, diagnose, and conduct root cause analyses of defects with development teams.

• Employ modern testing and AI-driven quality engineering tools.

• Set quality metrics, automation KPIs, and reporting dashboards.

• Take part in architecture, design, and sprint reviews to ensure applications are scalable, secure, accessible, and aligned with cloud modernization goals.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.

• Five (5) years of experience in software quality assurance, quality engineering, test automation, or application modernization projects.

• Three (3) years of experience creating automated testing solutions using Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, TestComplete, or similar frameworks.

• Familiarity with full software development lifecycle (SDLC) projects in Agile and Scrum settings.

• Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining comprehensive end-to-end automated test coverage for enterprise applications.

• Proficient in testing APIs, web services, integrations, cloud-native applications, and distributed systems.

• Skilled in integrating automated testing within CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, or similar platforms.

• Experience validating data migration, conversion, and integration processes.

• Solid understanding of DevSecOps, continuous testing, and modern software delivery practices.

• Proven ability to perform root cause analysis and resolve complex defects.

• Experience in creating test plans, strategies, cases, and quality documentation.

• Strong knowledge of SQL, database testing, and data validation methods.

• Proficient in using JIRA, Azure DevOps (ADO), Git, and contemporary work management platforms.

• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

• Strong skills in customer engagement, time management, and prioritization.

• Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.

• Preferred: Experience with Oracle environments and Oracle-to-cloud modernization.

• Preferred: Experience with AWS, Azure, containers, Kubernetes, serverless architectures, data platforms, performance/security/accessibility testing, and AI-assisted test automation.

• Certifications such as Section 508 Trusted Tester, ISTQB, AWS, Azure, SAFe, Scrum, or DevSecOps are advantageous.
